Sony a7rm2 and Samyang 135 mm F2

I just got hands on brand new #Sony A7Rm2 camera and my favorite focal length 135 mm. At the time of this experience there is no native 135 mm lens available for Sony A7 series. The camera is delivering very high quality  images. Very rich in color and dynamic range is incredible. The lens itself ( #Samyang 135 mm F 2) is manual focus but it is quite easy to handle it by using focus peaking inside the camera.
The results are incredibly sharp, no chromatic aberration. I took some shots along the Nidelva River in Trondheim Norway.

A good thing about ‪#‎Trondheim‬'s ‪#‎Nidelva‬ river. Whenever I make a walk around it, I can take new photos with different perspective and some added stuffs. This is the reason that I always enjoy my walking trip there. 

Nordlys (aurora), over Trondheim

Aurora or northern lights called nordlys in Norwegian. An aurora is a natural light display in the sky, especially in the high latitude regions, caused by the collision of solar wind and magnetospheric charged particles with the high altitude atmosphere.

It is easy to see it in higher latitudes in Norway but not very often in Trondheim position. I wanted to take a picture where I can see the city as well. On 12th of september the aurora index was so high and it was very nicely visible over Trondheim as well. the tower in the left side of the picture called Ttyholt tårnet which has a rotating restaurant in top. From there you can see almost entire city.

AWESOME Aurora over Baklidammen

This was unexpected aurora, northern light in Trondheim.I was just out to take some night photos but fortunately I could see some green light as well. Baklidammen is a dam in Bymarka in Trondheim municipality in Sør-Trøndelag. The dam is located just west of Theisendammen, between Fjellseterveien and Old Bynesveg.

Jonsvatnet Trondheim Norway

Jonsvatnet is a lake in Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. Most of the lake is in the eastern part of the municipality of Trondheim, with a very small part of the shoreline belonging to Malvik municipality. The lake is the main source for drinking water for Trondheim. As you can see the picture has been taken at sunset time. This was unique sense because of the perfect reflection  on the lake and also the shape of sun rays on trees.

Bakklandet is a neighborhood of Trondheim, Norway. It lies on the east side of the river Nidelva between Bakke Bridge and the Old Town Bridge. The area is dominated by small, wooden houses and narrow streets. It is among the major tourist attractions in the city.

The Beautiful Nature of Norway!

There are mountains plunging into the sea from hundreds of metres, fjords, cascading waterfalls, deep fjords, breathtaking lakes, islands and tall mountain peaks, northern lights and midnight sun. . The nature is the biggest attraction in Norway!

The picture below has been taken in Møre og Romsdal county when I was in a geophysical excursion with NGU team members. Møre og Romsdal county includes deep fjords, alpine mountains, gentle vallies, countless green islands, wide forests, the wild Atlantic coast, impressive mountain roads, numerous lakes, barren mountain plateaus, charming mountain farms, and the highest waterfalls in Norway. It is just such a pleasure to travel to this part of Norway and if you be lucky with the weather you will never ever forget your trip ;).

Finsetlia Eikesdalen, Norwegian glacial valley

Glacial valley, also called glacial trough, stream valley that has been glaciated, usually to a typical catenary, or U-shaped, cross section. U-shaped valleys occur in many parts of the world and are characteristic features of mountain glaciation. These glacial troughs may be several thousand feet deep and tens of miles long.

When allowed to spread out, a glacier erodes the landscape uniformly, but when confined within valley walls it tends to deepen and widen the valley floor. The commonly V-shaped stream valley is converted to a U-shaped valley because the U-shape provides the least frictional resistance to the moving glacier. (The  Encyclopædia Britannica)

Nidelva is the river which running through Trondheim city and bakklandet is the beautiful wooden houses of Trondeim to the right of picture.

The beautiful Leka island in Nord-Trøndelag, Norway

Leka is a municipality in Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. It is part of the Namdalen region. Leka is the northernmost municipality in Trøndelag. The island has been inhabited for at least 10,000 years, as evidenced by cave drawings in the Solsem section of the island( Wiki). I together with my geophysical colleagues had a trip to the island for looking at some geological localities. Leka's geology is very special. The red serpentine mountains has build a spectacular and unique landscape. In the region you can find various rock types. Leka steinsenter (Leka stone centre) has an exhibition of rocks and minerals from all over the world, but with the main emphasis in Leka and Norway. Maps and excursion guides to the geology trail can be bought here. It is really recommended to visit this place. It has to be mentioned that in 2011 Leka was voted the Norwegian Geological National Monument because of its unique geology. The picture below shows part of the island toward the famous mountain ''Heilhornet''.

Ancient rock carving in Alta, Norwegian Prehistoric Site

The Rock art of Alta (Helleristningene i Alta) are located in and around the municipality of Alta in the county of Finnmark in northern Norway.

The first carvings were discovered in 1972. Until now more than 6000 carving have been revealed on different sites around Alta.  The largest locality, at Jiepmaluokta about 4 kilometres outside of Alta, contains many thousand individual carvings and has been turned into an open-air museum. The site, along with the sites Storsteinen, Kåfjord, Amtmannsnes and Transfarelv, was placed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites on 3 December 1985. It is Norway's only prehistoric World Heritage Site (ref.wiki).

I had a geophysical trip to northern Norway in 2013 together with my colleagues. The main purpose for us was investigating the greenstone belt of Kautokeino south of Alta region. The open-air museum is one of the tourist attracting place in Alta so we decided to have a visit. I would say it is very very interesting area to see especially the carvings on the rock. When I was watching these carvings I had a question in my mind: why these people tried to make such an amazing job with probably very preliminary instruments. Did they think about us? did they know one day Aziz will come and look at their art. whatever they thought in those moments, their job is really fascinating. I should mention that the the earliest carvings were dated to around 4200 BC.  Hmm it seems our ancestors were artist and liked to print their work in a persistent way ;)

Tranquility in Jonsvatnet, Trondheim!

Jonsvatnet is a beautiful lake in Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. Most of the lake is in the eastern part of the municipality of Trondheim, with a very small part of the shoreline belonging to Malvik municipality. The lake is the main source for drinking water for Trondheim. Fishing is not allowed in this lake and also kayaking is allowed only in some part of it. The lake will be totally frozen in the winter times and people skating on it. I had a trip around this lake in May 2012 to test my beloved Nikon 14-24 mm F 2,8 on my Nikon D700. The weather was fantastic. I was there in sunset time. The wide end of this lens, 14 mm, is just fantastic. It is truly superlative performance in any situation. The only problem of this lens is that you are not able to use normal ND or CP filters which is in favourite of many landscape photographers, also lens is pretty heavy with almost one kg. I would say the weight of the lens is not an issue especially for landscape photography because photographers normally use tripods but filter disability may suffer those who want to capture long-exposures photos. Bakklandet, those beautiful wood houses of Trondheim

Bakklandet is a neighborhood of Trondheim, Norway. It lies on the east side of the river Nidelva between Bakke Bridge and the Old Town Bridge. The area is dominated by small, wooden houses and narrow streets. It is among the major tourist attractions in the city.The streets of this part of the town are narrow with some very famous cafe, bars and some traditional butics. This picture has been taken by my 24-70 mm with ND filter on it. Using ND filter made the clouds smoother and the color of sunset is brighter. It was raining just before I took the picture as a reason you can see a small pond in the middle of the frame and a little reflection of the houses. Indeed there were some people walking around in the street but because of long shot they are not appearing in the frame. This is actually very useful tool in order to eliminate not needed elements. Reflection in Leirsjøen, Trondheim

Store Leirsjøen or big Leirsjøen located in Leirelvvassdraget in Bymarka, Trondheim. Leirsjøen was originally separated from Frøset lake in the east, but by damming in 1929 waters were joint. Leirsjøen was drinking water in the years 1922 to 1993, after this period it is a reserve water source for Trondheim. For this reason, it has not been allowed to fish in the water. The result is a large population of smallish trout and char. I was with my friend to take some pictures and test the #ND filter. Indeed the reflection of water was so amazing and exactly like a mirror. I decided to take the picture with my tele lens 135 mm which is one of the most sharpestest lens produced by Carl Zeiss. Capture sunset with Samyang 14 mm

This is my first attempt of using samyang 14 mm. it is absolutely sharp and easy to use. The lens has a big rounded glass in front so it is not possible to use a normal filters such as UV and ND(See the photo below). In my opinion it is a downside of the lens.  It has also a barrel distortion which may/may not be corrected in lightroom or other photography softwares. The picture below is located very close to where we are living close to Granåsen gård.

And life is going on!

In a fantastic sunset time in Trondheim,Norway. The yellow color was amazing in the sky. I had a walk my lovely wife in Trondheim Angeltrøa, you can see her with red jacket in the picture. I had my sony A99 and 85 mm to take some pictures when we were walking. I was lucky to capture this moment. I chosed the title because you can see a lot things is going on here. A motorcycle, a bike, a car, the beautiful sun the Tyholt Tower in Trondheim. Actually I like the theme and color of this picture. 17 May Norwegian National Day

In the 17th of May,Norwegian National Day. Norwegian are celebrating this day with parades and carnivals together with wearing their beautiful traditional clothes called Bunad. This is my 7 years of living in Norway. Almost every year I am going out in this day to take pictures and share the happiness with the Norwegians. I like pretty much their clothes and traditions. The Bunad has different shapes and forms based on the different communities in Norway. For example in Trøndelag province the colors are more into greenish. Noteworthy, Bunad is very expensive and normally they keep it at least for some years.
